A lecture by Dr. Marisol LeBrón (UC Santa Cruz)

Amanda Guzmán (Trinity) organized this year’s annual Jan Cohn Lecture in American Studies with Marisol LeBrón (Feminist Studies, Critical Race and Ethnic Studies, UC Santa Cruz). Prof. LeBrón described the devastation visited upon Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria. She detailed how Puerto Rican feminists engaged in joyous life-affirming confrontations with the state such as in the 2019 Verano Boricua protests where feminists proclaimed, “La protesta es vida!”
